What is and how can SomaVeda® Integrated Traditional Therapies help me?

SomaVeda® Integrated Traditional Therapies is a blend of modern and ancient hands-on techniques designed to help the client feel better than ever. First, there is the ancient healing modality known as Thai Yoga Therapy, also known as Nuad Boran. Thai Yoga Therapy has many benefits, and it is much different than a massage.  In fact, it is hard to compare to a massage as it is received fully clothed and consists of compression, assisted stretching, rocking, and other techniques. It is good for everybody, from the very young, to the very old, as well as those with chronic pain, stroke or aneurysm recovery, or cancer patients at any time in their treatment.

Do I have to be flexible to do this?

A great thing about receiving Thai Yoga Therapy is that you do not have to be flexible, strong or even mobile. You can receive this work anywhere, a chair, a bed, a couch, a wheelchair, or of course, a professional office. This therapy works on every body type at any stage in life and at any stage of illness, disease or health.  Don't let the photos of "Thai Massage" you see on Google images fool you, movements are applied only to the extent of the clients' capabilities.  We will only move you through positions appropriate for you! How does SomaVeda® Thai Yoga Work?

The method of SomaVeda® Thai Yoga Therapy begins with compressions progressing from the feet up. It focuses on working the energy lines throughout the body, with the aim of clearing blockages in these lines, and thus stimulating the flow of blood and lymph throughout the body. Pressure points, energy meridian work, and yoga-like stretching is used for an invigorating and balancing full body experience. Perfect for anyone that wants a good stretch and a new sense of "ease" in the body. Most people comment they haven't felt that "limber" in years, and they feel invigorated yet relaxed and calm at the same time.

How does SomaVeda® Thai Yoga Therapy
differ from the yoga I see in classes in studios or at the gym?

SomaVeda® Thai Yoga is a hands-on experience, allowing you to truly let go by letting someone else do the work for you.  Thai Yoga is also known as the "lazy man's" yoga, getting all the benefits of yoga poses (asanas) without doing anything but relaxing and letting the movements happen.  The health benefits are similar to traditional yoga including an enhanced sense of well being, feeling loose and open in the joints, and feeling relaxed and more aware and settled in the body. It uses the same philosophy, science, and technology as asana, or yoga poses. That being said, there is a new found sense of awareness and aliveness that comes from being moved in ways you will rarely experience in more modern massage modalities.

What can I expect in my SomaVeda® Thai Yoga Session or in the SomaVeda® Protocol?

SomaVeda® Thai Yoga Therapy is a passive form of Yoga. The clients body is moved in very specific positions, slowly and with much care. The goal is for the client to do as little as possible, and to be as relaxed as possible. The techniques include stretching, rocking, thumb rolling to work acupressure points, and compressing on the borders of muscles and joints as well as the stomach, head, fingers, toes and ears to release tension and correct misalignment. It is a soothing and relaxing full body experience, performed fully clothed on a comfortable floor mat or massage table. Some people get energized, or sometimes surprised at how alive their body feels. Oils and lotions are not used during most of the SomaVeda® sessions, so you can get up and go after your session and approach the day with a new-found energy and vibrance. Comfortable exercise clothing is suggested for the session. It is a great way for women to regain their energy pre-and post-natal; and is especially miraculous for those that are having a difficult time conceiving.  It is also wonderful for alleviating symptoms of pain from most diseases/illnesses including rheumatoid arthritis.

The SomaVeda® Therapeutic Day Protocol  A traditional therapeutic day consists of 9-12 hours of therapy and is carried out over 7 sessions.  More sessions may be added when adjunct therapies are deemed appropriate.  More sessions may be added when adjunct therapies are deemed appropriate.  Some adjunct therapies that may be used are: Personalized Yoga, Homeopathic remedies, SomaVeda® BET/Bio-tapping, Reiki, Reflexology and even personalized cooking and meal plan strategies.  This can be decided at the start of a program or discussed as concerns come to the surface during the series. The more frequent the sessions, the better the results... The physical body can continue to shift and change even up to 4 days after a session, SomaVeda® is so powerful!

I feel so good, and I want my partner to experience
SomaVeda® Thai Yoga, do you offer couples sessions?

Yes, we also offer couples sessions, which is a wonderful opportunity to have me work on one partner while the other is present, then switch. Or, you can have a session done simultaneously by myself and one of my practitioners in training. Have you ever noticed if one member of a couple gets a massage gets home, a lot of times the two are just on completely different wavelengths?  Never let that happen again! The experiences have been simply amazing. The conversations, if any, are peaceful and sometimes quite fun, filled with laughter!  If you feel you truly want to reconnect with your partner, I highly recommend a partner SomaVeda® experience. You have the choice of concurrent sessions (two therapists working on both you and your partner at the same time), tandem sessions (two therapists at one time), or sequential sessions (one partner receives first, then the other).

History of Thai Yoga and SomaVeda® Therapy

Thai Yoga Therapy has been practiced for 2500 years and is still performed in hospitals in Thailand. Traditional Thai Medicine and Thai Yoga were developed by an Ayurvedic doctor named Shivago Komalaboat (born Jīvaka Komarabhācca), who was the doctor and personal friend to the Buddha, as a mixture of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Indian Ayurveda. Thai Yoga Therapy has been used to alleviate hundreds of ailments over time, truly taking the client to the next level for healing and transformation, as well as being the ultimate for prevention of disease.

SomaVeda® Thai Yoga Therapy is a system developed by Aachan Dr. Anthony James, the first American to write a book on Thai Yoga/Nuad Boran (1984). Dr. Maureen has studied at the Thai Yoga Center at the SomaVeda College of Natural Medicine (located in Brooksville, FL) is a Certified Teacher Trainer (CTT) and Certified Advanced Thai Practitioner (CATP). Maureen has the legal ability to practice and train others all over the United States as a Ordained Minister in the Native American Indigenous Church (NAIC). She also received a Massage Therapy Certificate (600 hours) from the Healing Arts Center in St. Louis, MO and is currently licensed in the state of Missouri (Certificate/License No. 20140119204).

I’ve only recently had pain issues in my arm and wrist, for about 3 months now. Maureen worked on my whole body, but took a little extra time on the shoulder and arm that was hurting quite badly, and even after waking up the next day and driving 12 hrs, it still didn’t hurt. This stuff is amazing!
